Welcome to Deer Creek!

Located in the beautiful town of Nevada City in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, Deer Creek Elementary School has provided exceptional education to local families for over forty years. It is a tremendous honor to serve as the principal.

Deer Creek is a great place to teach and learn! We have a well-established mission to help children reach their full potential in an innovative and nurturing environment, and we are committed to the vital work of supporting students in their achievement. Our staff collaborates weekly to provide an excellent educational program. We have dedicated reading and math support teachers and instructional aides who coordinate with classroom teachers to support the needs of all students. Each class has dedicated STEAM, library, and Healthy Kids programs throughout the week. Students can access Chromebooks, iPads, art docents, a garden and orchard, and monthly organic produce tastings through Sierra Harvest.

We invite you to participate actively in your child's education at Deer Creek. There are many opportunities to be involved through the classroom, the Parent Teacher Club, School Foundation, Site Council, family events, performances, fundraisers, and committees. Additionally, maintaining clear communication with your child's teacher and monitoring their homework are important ways to engage in their education.

Deer Creek communicates through email every Thursday. This newsletter informs families of all the upcoming events and provides links to helpful information. The website, school marquee, and the District and PTC's Facebook pages are additional ways to stay updated on all the outstanding programs offered at Deer Creek.
